PN 696: Oil Spill Response Barge

During the 2009 Navalprogetti worked on the Basic Design of a new vessel for AGIPKCO. The vessel is intended to operate in North Caspian Sea throughout the year, in both deep and shallow waters. The vessel has 1A ice class. The Barge shall be stationed in the Kashagan field with oil spill response equipment onboard for rapid response to any spill event in the Northeast Caspian Sea area. The vessel is a non-propelled cargo Barge for offshore industry, suitable for storage and transport of sewage waters (received from other vessels or fixed plants) and equipped for:

  • recovering oil spill from the sea with flashpoint below 60°C
  • receiving the recovered oil with flashpoint below 60°C from other vessels
  • transporting recovered oil with the possibility of water separation up to 15 ppm

If the Oil recovery operations are not required, the spill oil recovery equipment can be removed from the Main deck area and stowed in the Warehouse area: that give the possibility of using the barge as “Flat top barge” for cargo on Main deck. The shape of the vessels shall be designed in order to guarantee good behavior while pushed in iced sea condition, good course stability and sea keeping behavior during towing in open water.
